In a world where most people of working age will have access to a mobile phone, SMS technology is an efficient and effective tool for communicating with candidates.

Some examples of when you might utilise SMS;

  • Invite a candidate to book an interview.
  • Confirm interview details such as date, time, location and who the candidate will be meeting.

If you ‘Enable SMS notifications – Interview Reminders’ on all or a particular role, the ATS will automatically generate an SMS to any candidate that has a confirmed interview slot.

SMS reminders are generated as follows;

  • If the interview is due to take place within the next 24 hours, an SMS reminder will be generated instantly.
  • 24 hours before the interview.

Note: You may only send an SMS to a candidate within the same country that you are based.

The following steps will guide you through using the SMS function.

At the Job Editor stage, check to see if the ‘Enable SMS notifications’ has been ticked.

This may be automatically turned on by default depending on your chosen configuration at your ATS set-up stage.  This option can be deselected on a per job basis if required.

If you select to ‘Enable SMS notifications, interview reminders’ – this means that any candidate/s with a confirmed interview slot will receive an SMS reminder 24 hours before their interview.

When automated SMS reminders are enabled on a job then when you arrange an interview you will see that an SMS will be sent – you can disable for a specific interview if you wanted just by unticking the SMS option.

Review the SMS status;

If an SMS is sent to a candidate you will be able to view the status, email subject, sender and date via the candidate profile under their ‘Tools’ tab as shown in the example below.

Ad-hoc SMS

There may be an occasion where you would like to send one or more candidates an Ad-hoc SMS, you can select this option by taking the following steps;

Select the relevant role from your ‘Job List’ and select the checkbox against the candidate/s that you would like to send an SMS to.

Select the Cog menu, Other Options and Send SMS.

You will be presented with the option similar to the screenshot below.   Once you have completed any free text that you would like to enter, select Send.

You will now have the option to review the SMS within the candidate profile by selecting the candidate name as shown in the example below.

The below example shows a similar text to what the candidate could receive on their mobile device.

The candidate receives the SMS which comes from your brand (or the brand they applied to if your version of Tribepad supports multiple brands).
